Klackles Apple Orchard

A day this fall we went with several home school families on a field trip to Klackles orchard. I had never been there and was really looking forward to a day away with the kids. We headed out on the LONG journey to get there... and it was worth every minute of driving! When we arrived all the kids got together for a little lesson about apples.

After that they all jumped on the wagon and were ready for their tour of the orchard.

When we were in the orchard we stopped and the kids were able to get off and pick their own apples. They were each gives their own little bag and off they went to fill it up. They had so much fun searching all of the trees looking for the "perfect" apples.

Right away some of the kids asked if they could eat one of their apples. What Mom is going to say no to that right? Well, my sweet birdie just wanted so badly to bite into that apple and love it just like the other kids did.... but she was disappointed. Maybe she thought that since she picked it herself it would taste better to her? She just doesn't like apples and never has. But she gets an A for trying!

After we were done in the orchard we rode the wagon on to the pumpkin patch. The kids were allowed to each pick their own pumpkin. Just one. Oh what a hard decision for a child in a field full of hundreds of pumpkins!

After spending entirely too long in the pumpkin patch the children finally picked out the perfect pumpkin.

After all of their hard work they were rewarded with donuts and apple cider.

And now it's play time! One of Jacksons favorites was the little zip line. I think he may have done it about 50 times.

Avery's favorite was the bus. This was really cool~the kids could play on the bus and also be the driver and pretend to open the door and push all the buttons. Avery was the perfect bus driver. She told the kids all where to sit and where they were going and she narrated the whole time they were "traveling" to their location. It was a riot. Oh to have a school bus at home!

I'm not really even sure what one would call these interesting pieces of equipment (Melissa I just giggled a little when I typed that!) Whatever you call them, they were a riot. The kids couldn't get enough of them and the Moms even joined in on the fun. We peddled and we laughed and we cheered and we definitely got a good workout! For sure the highlight of the day for me!

Avery did a ton of laps and finally had to just take a break. She sat and cheered on everyone as they went by. There is a little checkered flag next to her that she would wave to let the kids know they had one more lap to go!

After a wonderful day in the sun and playing at the orchard Avery was done. We were in the car for about 5 minutes riding home and Avery was out. She slept the whole way home.

And about 15 minutes into the ride we lost another kiddo to sleep!

Of course Jaidey never slept on the way home. I think that she was just too busy thinking about her apples and her pumpkin! As soon as we pulled in the garage she jumped in the back and started sorting to ensure that she got her specific bag of apples and pumpkin. She was so excited to go in and paint her pumpkin! What a wonderful day filled with friends, fun, laughter and sun! Although it is a long way away it was worth it and we are looking forward to doing it again!
