He's finally here. Oh how long we have waited to have Uncle Chad home. It has been way too long! The kids were so excited to finally have him here and not just on the phone. The kids talk to him occasionally, but I think that they are still a little young for the phone thing and never really talk much. So, they don't really get to have alot of conversation with Chad. We talk about him frequently and they say "I'm gonna tell Uncle Chad that" and then he calls and they don't know what to say! That will get better with time and it's the thought that counts right? So, when he came home they talked his ear off and wanted to show him everything. It's hard not having him here, but I suppose it makes it all that much more special when he does come. And little did Chad know that he would be a jungle gym and the source of their entertainment every minute they are with him!!

One of my most favorite pics of all! Avery knew who Uncle Chad was, but only from us talking about him, pictures and short phone conversations with him. She was only 2 the last time she saw him and didn't remember being with him. She was so very excited to see him because we all were, but she was also a bit shy and nervous when he finally came home. It made me sad, but I can't blame her. One day in walks a man that her brother and sister run to and give huge hugs and she is supposed to know him, but really doesn't. She just wasn't ready for the immediate hug. It took her a bit to warm up to him and to understand what was going on. Until, she spent a little time with Chad and realized that he was fabulous. Really whats not to love? We all knew that and I was thankful that he was able to share that with Avery! Anyways, when she did warm up to him she was all about him. She wanted to play with him constantly. So, that's why this pic is so memorable to me. The look of love and understanding that is on both of their faces is priceless! And the tears start flowing.......(I miss you Chad!)
One of the special things that Chad brought home for the kiddos was money from all of the different countries he has lived in and visited. He spent time telling them about each one and what country it was from. The kids were very interested and had a ton of questions. They spent time checking out each coin and the cool pics on each. When they were done Chad let them pick some out and keep them. They were so excited they ran to their piggy banks and put the money in. We frequently get them out and go over each piece~usually accompanied by a story or memory from each kiddo about Uncle Chad. It's interesting to hear what each of their favorite memories with him is!
Chad also spent alot of time out at Sandy Pines with us. The kids were so happy that he came to the water park with them and played in the water. I don't think that Jaidey ever let go of him!
Oh Aves~she's just chilling and watching all the action.
Another special treat was that Chad spent the day with us at the zoo. This is one of our favorite things to do in the summer and we were so thankful that we could share it with Uncle Chad. And of course~much to his dismay~ I made him pose for several pics. I think he just humors me because he knows he only has to put up with it for one or two weeks a year!
Jackson's dream has come true. He loves the high ropes course and every time we go to the zoo he asks if he can go on it. We have always said no, but this time Uncle Chad said that he would take him out there. Oh you should have seen the look of excitement on Jacksons face when he heard that!! He got all crazy and could hardly stand himself while they were waiting in line! When his turn finally came he was all business and put his game face on~gotta be cool for Uncle Chad you know!
They spent a long time trying each area and Chad did a great job of helping and encouraging Jackson. This I am sure is something Jackson will never forget!
Uncle Chad spoils the kids. He also took them in to feed the stingrays. We have done it a few times, but the kids will not put their hand in the water (because they are scared) and they just stand there. So I figure we can see the stingrays just fine from outside the rope.
Well, Chad took them in and tried very hard to convince them all to reach into the water~with no luck. We thought for a second that Avery might actually do it, but nope! They did enjoy watching Chad feed them though~ that's more than this Mom will do. I just stand and watch also.
We had a wonderful couple of week with Chad and spent a ton of time with him. Although we wish we could do it more often we understand that it's not possible, so we will treasure every minute we are given! And I now know one thing for sure...Avery became very attached to Uncle Chad and she will always remember him now and will be ready and waiting with a huge hug as soon as he walks in the door!
