We set up our tree the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. A bit early this year, but we were ready to get the decorations up! The kids are really into it this year, so they encouraged us to get it done. Jackson took on the role of setting up the tree. He was ALL BUSINESS! This is serious stuff going on and he was not even thinking about cracking a smile! We like to call it his game face!
All Jaideyn wanted was to hang up the "pretty" ornaments! She too took her job very seriously!
Oh and our little Aves. She had no idea what it meant to put up the tree. When it came time to put up the ornaments she was all over it. She loved it. The only problem was that she only wanted to hang the red bulbs and she "needed" them all on the same bottom branch. (We let her put them all on the one branch and then we moved some of them later.) 
To add to Avery's excitement we decided that it was her turn to put the star on the top of the tree. Suprisingly Jackson and Jaideyn agreed that it should be Avery to put the star up~"since it's her first time!" In years past we have had some debate among the kids about this honor. As you can see Avery loved every minute of her "star putter upper job!"
Putting up the Christmas tree is truly one of my most favorite things to do with the kids. We always start the night out reading the Christmas story from Luke 2 and talking about the reason for Christmas. The kids are starting to understand this year, so that made it that much better. After we have our story time we get out the tree and talk about what it represents and means to us. It never ceases to amaze me how much the kids really know and "get it." They are truly children of God.
